So en lieu of daily sketching lately, I've been putting a bit of work into a tattoo design that a friend asked for a while back. He was nice enough to give me a free reign with it, so I've used it for a lot of "testing". Very grateful for that and hoping to improve because of it. Hope ya dig it!
So, fellow artsy peeps, what do you find to be the most helpful way to improve your skills (aside from the "practice" blah that we always give). What's your go-to drawing when you're in a block? (mine's an eye for example) And, finally, what do you struggle most with, and why do you think you do? Always appreciate getting tips from my idols and love doing the same for others.

damn man that is a highly rendered piece! 
the topic of most helpful way to improve is a vast one lol no easy answer but I despise tht "just practice" answer too lol, I prefer something more in depth, but it's definitely studying from life or photo towards things you want to improve on.
